Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
We don't need a right back, we need a back up right wing back. All our strengths point to a back three, as we have seen recently.

To play a back 4 as well will take much more summer surgery.

Shelvey moves clubs, plays out of his skin for one game and then turns to shit

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Shelvey? No thanks.

Ogbonna will be back, Reid has been our best defender this season, Fonte and Collins are decent back ups and we have Burke and Oxford to come through, not to mention Kouyate who has been good cover this season. CB is the very last place we need to think about, we need a quality right back.

Should also look at some of the Championship players. Dare we try to pull Shelvey away from Newcastle!

Not sure about Maguire's value but Gibson has been mentioned in the 25/30m bracket and linked with man utd and others above us

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
If we are looking at defenders I would consider Ben Gibson at Middlesbrough and Harry Maguire at Hull.

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Most of the players we'd want (especially the English ones) will go for stupid money. Way more than we can probably afford if we really want to add a number of players.

We can probably forget about Pickford or either of the centre backs. Anyone touted as a future England player will be off to sit on Chelsea or City's bench, or to Man U where they know they'll suddenly be in the next England squad.

I'd like Larsson from Sunderland but at 31 and we've got a lot of midfeilders

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
7 league goals from 29 starts. struggled at valencia as well, 10 goals over two seasons. carlton cole prob has a better record.

from what i've seen he looks slow and disinterested.

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
He's got two years left at 'boro so highly doubt he'll take anything less FC.

I would take Negredo on a one year deal

Well he has ended up with 9 goals and 4 assists - not bad in such a defensive team. I was reading the other day someone at the club praising him for his positive attitude and huge ability even in the dire circumstances.

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Yeah i think it was bad planning or Slav just making his baffling decisions which have plagued him this season

I think (or would like to think) that if Burke was here he would have gone into CB before Kouyate or Nordveit

I'm with you on getting the young players into the squad, but the lack of doing so over countless seasons is the worry.

What concerns me is when Reid gets injured we shit ourselves and backfill with midfielders, like Kouyate and Hordveldt.

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Not worth even talking about Sigurdsson, he's already stated he's buggering off to a team in the CL, regardless of where they are based.

Am sure he wouldn't be short of takers either in that bracket.

a mixed time?? fucking hell i'd hate to see him play bad then.

JustAFatKevinDavies 5:01 Mon May 8
Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
maybe Robertson from Hull should Liverpool come for Cresswell (unlikely as it is base don this season)

one name who I do think could be a good striking option for us albeit not from a relegated club could be Icheanacho, lots of potential and pace and not getting a look in, think he could jump at the chance

Alex V 4:51 Mon May 8
Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
I like Negredo. Had a mixed time but he is strong. £100k a week though, and like Defoe he's a short-term fix rather than a long-term answer.

Rossal 4:51 Mon May 8
Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Well IMO they have shown enough to be given a chance. I'd rather us promote from within then buy

As said below id rather use the money on a striker, rb or winger all before I consider another CB

Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Traore so exciting to watch - I'd love to get him for sheer entertainment value. In terms of actual end product, he seems to create next to nothing. A gamble.

Willtell 4:45 Mon May 8
Re: Players to consider from relegated teams
Yes but you have no idea whether Burke or Oxford are ready for first team football so how can you say that? I'd quite like Harry Maguire...
